Posted - 10/04/2013 : 8:13:40 PM Statistician or not, you are correct. In fact w is defined later on the page as the sum of weights which, as you say, would be n for unweighted data. I just needed a nudge in the right direction. |

I'm not a statistician, but I think in case of when the data has weights. If all weights are 1, then w=n.
