hi togehter,
maybe you can help me.
I'm usually working with time series of data.
e.g. 324-340 (Days of the year).
Now it would like to highlight parts of this time series with different colors. e.g 325.6-328.
I would like to have then colored boxes over this time period.
I tried just to make a worksheet with this times and to to make a stack plot. but i cannot manage it that only the parts i would like to have a colored box is colored because using this stack plot i have also on the left and right handside of the beginning and end points the color...
Any ideas??

The easiest thing to do is draw a rectangle on your plot, then double-click on the rectangle to open the Object Properties window. Select the Dimensions tab, and select Units: scale; this will allow you to size and position your rectangle according to the x-y coordinates of your plot. Color and fill your rectangle the way you want (Do not pick same color as your data plot); if you do not want a border, make the border and fill colors the same. Then click OK.

Finally, right-click on your rectangle and select "Push to back of data" to display your data in front of your rectangle.

Hi,

You may want to look at this tutorial:
http://originlab.com/www/helponline/Origin/en/mergedProjects/Tutorial/Tutorial/Line_Graph_with_Recession_Bars.html
which shows how to plot such "recession" bars using location data stored in worksheet column.

This will color all the bars with one color however. But it may be easier to have your data in the sheet and use that data with such a template, if you are really looking for a script solution, than drawing rectangles manually.
