For reports, I ususally copy graphes in Word 2010 using the "copy page" command and paste the graphes in my Word document. The quality is good, both on the monitor and on the printed Word document.
Problems occur when I convert my Word document (containing origin graphes) in a pdf file. The Origin graphes do not look as they should. For instance, the "white out" option of text labels does not work. Worse, graphes with data points extending outside the graph frame are shown, even if the option "clip data to frame" is acivated in the layer properties.
I am converting the Word document using the "save as ADOBE pdf" command of Word 2010. Same problem occurs when printing to "Adobe pdf" from the Word document.
Does anybody known why this problem occur and how to avoid it?

I don't have Office 2010 so I cannot verify if the "save as ADOBE pdf" option is a native feature or an add-on.
In Office 2007, Microsoft added a PostScript interpreter that had some problems. This meant that - for example - Word could display EPS files that did not contain a Preview image since it could now interpret the EPS. On the output side it also meant they could offer a Save as PDF option. Again, this interpreter was not perfect and had various problems.
As a test, I embedded an Origin graph in Word 2007 that had clipped data, a blended two-color layer background and some text with whiteout.
When I used Word's save as PDF option the background was very disappointing, but I did not see a problem with clipping or with whiteout.
When I printed to an installed PDF printer driver (in my case, I used CutePDF Writer) the results were indistinguishable from the original Origin graph.
I suspect bugs in "save as ADOBE pdf" software are causing your problem. See if the Save as PDF option is still available in Word 2010 or save as Other Formats includes a PDF option. |

I thought maybe I could help.
I have Win7 Pro 64-bit and Office 2010 with all patches (as of about 10 days ago). I also have OriginPro 9.0.0 SR1 installed. I have no other 3rd party applications, Office add-ins or print drivers installed.
I found NO command for printing to any sort of PDF in Word 2010. There IS an option to in the File->Save As... menu item to save the doc file as "PDF (*.pdf)" however.
So,
I created a very basic graph in OriginPro with: 1) Data outside the layer frame, 2) Clip Data to Frame checked, 3) Plot labels White Out checked, 4) A two color gradient background.
Within OriginPro, I used the Edit->Copy Page menu item to copy the graph. I pasted it into a Word doc. Within Word, the graph looked the same as in OriginPro (datapoints properly clipped, labels whited out, gradient correct, etc).
I then saved the Word doc using File->Save as... and chose the "PDF (*.pdf)" option to save a PDF.
I then copied the PDF over to my Mac to look at it in an App that opens PDFs (Apple's Preview app). The graph looks just like it did in Word (and OriginPro).
So, I was not able to reproduce the problem with my OriginPro/Office 2010/Win 7 64-bit set up.
I strongly suspect that it is related to any third party software you have installed. That the particular command you use has "ADOBE" in it would seem to point to an issue with whatever Adobe product you may have installed.
I attached a JPG of the the graph PDF (as rendered in Apple's Preview app) to this message so you can see my result.

Greg, you are right. In Word, I did not try to convert to pdf using the "save as..." command and then choosing the pdf option. This works perfectly. I have been blinded by the conspic button "save as ADOBE PDF" located directly beneath the "save as..." button. This additional button was probably added by the Adobe Acrobat software installed in my computer. And this does not work properly!
Thank you for the solution
