Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin):OriginPro 8
Operating System: windows 7

Hello Originlabers,

I have a 3d curve with many spikes (is an output from an sensor array) what can I do to 'smooth' this surface?

Thanks,
OL

Hi OmicronLambda,

I suppose you are talking about a 3D surface rather than 3D curve(line-connections of 3D scatter).

If your surface was created from a matrix, for example, you can try a 3D filter like Median Filter ("Analysis> Mathematics> Median Filter" menu).

(If your data is an XYZ worksheet, you can first convert to a matrix; but I assume this is not your case because Origin(Pro) 8.0 lacks the surface plotting from an XYZ worksheet, though the later versions can do.)

Does it help?
