Hey Guys,
i do have some problems with plotting a line+symbol. my worksheetdata:
x(first row) y (scnd row) 29,93 0,062501598 19,83 0,05082149 9,83 0,031324036 39,59 0,110726296 29,66 0,099860712 19,95 0,082107824 10,36 0,052658851 49,21 0,182576482 39,85 0,177074991 29,70 0,156251445 19,23 0,119886982 10,00 0,076563282 59,09 0,290118337 48,46 0,270670113 38,64 0,253519058 28,56 0,22049176 19,37 0,180543109 9,82 0,109887084
as you can see, the x-data are not sorted. but if I create a plot, the x-data are getting sorted on the scale from 0 to 60. I don´t want them to get sorted! They should have the same order like the worksheet, starting the x-scale with 29,93, 19,83, 9,83 and then 39,59 and so on. I did the same with Excel and it worked out, but I don´t know how to create the same graph with Origin.
Thanks so much guys! I hope somebody can help!
I´m using OriginPro 8.6 Maja |

Hello Maja,
I’m not sure I understand exactly what you want the graph to look like. If you could post a screenshot of the graph you made in excel that had the x-scale that you wanted I might have a clearer idea of how to help.

Hi Maja,
Try following these steps and see if it works:
1. With no columns selected, create a line and symbol plot of your data. 2. In the plot setup dialogue check the <autox> column as “X” and the column containing your Y data as “Y” then click OK.
At this point you should have a graph similar to what you want, but with an x-scale of the row numbers
3. Double click on the x-axis to open the X Axis dialogue and go to the Tick Labels tab. 4. Set the Type as “Text from dataset” and select the column containing your x data from the Dataset dropdown. 5. Click Apply and the x-axis tick labels should become the values you want them to be.
When I did this the numbers overlapped some, if this happens you can set them to a 45 degree roation in the Custom Tick Labels tab.
Let me know if this works for you.

Hey Matthew,
Thanks a lot! It worked out. Very nice diagramm, much better than the Excel one.
Thanks again for answering that fast! Very helpful forum!
