Origin Ver. 8 and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin):
Operating System: Win 8

So I have made a simple linear fit of my data. And I want to make another fit (through other data points on that graph), but I want them to be on the same graph.

I made the second fit, by simply choosing different range of my data (say first three points in my data), but this will be shown on a new graph, and I want it on the same graph, but with, say different color or style (dashed or dotted line). Since the points are the same, I don't have to change this.

But I don't know how to do that :
EDIT: I managed to somehow add another plot on another layer, so I guess I answered my own question xD

Hi,

Your solution will definitely work, but you can also follow these steps to add both linear fits to the same data plot at once:

1. With your graph as the active window, click on the “Selection on Active Plot” button on the Tools toolbar (the button looks like a down arrow above a blue oval)
2. Now click and drag to select the portion of your data which you want to be used for the first linear fit.
--> This should create to red vertical lines bounding your selection
3. You can click and drag again to select a second portion of data for the second linear fit.
4. Now go to Analysis > Fitting > Linear Fit
--> The Input Data section should have the two data ranges you just selected
5. Click OK to fit your data.
--> You should see two separate Linear fits on your graph; you can double-click on one of the linear fit lines to open the Plot Details dialog where you can adjust its color.
