Origin 8.5

Hello!
A have question about creating a linear fit to my plot.
I have a 10 points on my plot, and for example a 3 of them did not match on my plot. I have to create a liner fit to all correct points (7), but a want the others (that not match)to stay on plot.

Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks in advance

Hi,

Just to be sure i understand what you are trying to do correctly: you have 10 data points, but only want the linear fit to apply to 7 of them.

To do this you can use the following steps:
1. Using the Regional Mask Tool from the toolbar (which appears on the left side of your screen under default settings), click and drag to select points which you wish to mask.

--> These points should turn red, indicating they are masked and will not be included in data analysis

2. Perform a linear fit on your data by going to Analysis > Fitting > Linear Fit.

3. In the dialog, make sure the input data is correct (it i ok if the data range includes the masked points), and adjust any settings you wish to manually configure before clicking OK.

--> The linear fit should appear, you can confirm the masked points were not included in the fit by going to the Statistics section of the report worksheet and looking at the Number of Points that were used.

Hope this helps.

Matthew
