Operating System: Win 7

Hi all,

I need to plot a 3D function, I am trying to find the option to do this in Origin Lab from the following link, but can't seem to find this in OriginLab, can someone please help.

Hello,

The menu to open 3D function plot dialog is File: New: Function Plot:

There are submenus there.
3D Function Plot
3D Parametric Function Plot


In 9.0 SR2, we added it to our Standard toolbar.

BTW, Origin provides Quick Help window where you can enter keywords to search FAQ. By default it shows together will Project Explorer and Messages Log and docked & autohidden) to the left side of Origin workspace. If you have closed it, you can choose View: Quick Help.

Then you can enter 3D function plot to find how to plot 3d parametric function plot which gives you a clue where to find the menu.

We will check how to improve our documentation.

Hi,

Thanks for your help, however I am still having problems with this. When i follow the steps you suggest. I can not see any sub menus which provide me the 3D function plotting options.

Hello,

Sorry that we didn't notice your Origin version is 8.5. We started to support 3d Function plot in Origin 8.6. And we added 3D parametric function plot in Origin 9.0. You may need to upgrade Origin to do this.

We improved 3D graph in 9.0 to use OpenGL technique, which may be useful for you too.

Oh I see, it seems this is the latest version we have available to us at the university. Looks like I can not use this feature then.
