OriginPro 9.0.0G (32-bit)SR2
Windows 7

Dear all,

my dataset has the following structure:

My column plot looks like this:

But I don't want to start the columns at zero. I'd like to plot 2 different types of diagrams.
The first diagram should look like this one, but all columns should start at -100 (from -100 in positive or negative direction).
The other diagram should start at -400 and every column should be plotted from -400 to the value.

How can I create plots like that?

Thanks for any support,
thomsen

Column plot will start from Ymin if Y=0 line is not drawn, so just go to the Grid Lines tab for X axis and uncheck Additional Line->Y=0

Thanks,

thats the solution for one diagram.

Is it also possible to set the column start to a other value like -100?
I would like to create a plot like this (with the same values as before):

(this is just a workaround by building the difference in the datasheet)

Thanks,
thomsen

I suppose we can try to add this option in the upcoming Origin 9.1, to allow the Y=0 value to be customized. Added ORG-9226

Hi,

CP's will be the real solution in 9.1. Until then, you can use the Top X axis to substitute the Bottom axis.
Here is the procedure, though tedious, and of course, you cannot use the top X.

1) Open X Axis dialog ("Format: Axes: X Axis" menu)

2) Select Grid Lines tab.
3) For Vertical, at Additional Lines, turn OFF the "Y=0".

4) Select Title & Format tab.
5) For Bottom, at Major/Minor Ticks, select "none"
at Axis Position, select "At Position =", and set -100 (value you wanted).

6) Cut the string (typically "%(?X)") at Title.
change to Top, and paste this string to Title.
7) Also for Top, turn ON Show Axis & Ticks check box, and
at Axis Position, select "% From Top", and set -100 (%).

8) Select Tick Labels tab,
9) For Top, turn ON Show Major Labels.
10) For Bottom, turn OFF Show Major Labels.

11) Select Tick Custom Tick Labels tab,
12) For Top, set Vertical to e.g. -170 for the offset position.

13) Press OK.
14) Right-click the X axis title, select Programming Control fly-out,
and set 1 at "Link to (%, $), Substitution Level. Click OK.
Then, move the X axis title to the proper position.

P.S. If you need to make more than one graphs like this, I suggest you to make your own template after making the first one.

Hi Hideo Fujii,

thank you so much.
This is exactly what I was looking for.
It's not the easiest way, but it works perfect.

Thanks,
thomsen
