Origin Ver.9.1 and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): SR2 Operating System: Win 7 Pro x64
Is it possible to use Origin 9.0 Axis setup style? The new one is not as intuitive as the previous one. Maybe you could include this as an option, to use the new or old style axis setup? Sometimes I get confused looking for option that is not as visible as it was before.

Hi Michael,
We are currently discussing the option of creating such a feature where users can choose to use the layout of the previous axis dialog. I will definitely forward your views on this as well.
For now, to learn in detail about how to navigate the new axis dialog you can refer to this tutorial: http://www.originlab.com/Index.aspx?go=Support/VideoTutorials&pid=2099
The new Axis dialog has many additional features as compared to the 9.0 axis dialog. This makes it larger than the old one but also gives you control over almost every aspect of the axis settings. Hope this helps!

I have to say that I find quite the opposite to be true. When it was tab-based, there were so many tabs that I could never keep up with what setting was on what tab and would end up going through the tabs over and over again and over again just to find all the settings I wanted to set. It was totally unintuitive to me.

This new dialogue simply creates havoc in the work flow for long term origin users with no real benefit as none of the advertised new features have any relevance to us, or are actually not new at all. It is quite telling that it took about 10 minutes to find out out to switch on ticks on an axis for people using Origin for 20 years. After watching the video it is clear now, but in none of the previous version it was required to watch a video to find out how the most basic functions work. The biggest problem is that the new dialogue is so minimalistic with no graphic feedback what the dialogue is about.
With the old one one might have needed to switch the tabs to find what one wanted but it was always possible to find it. With the new one this is just not the case.
Another sacrifice in usability for "new" features which might help 1% of your users but annoys 50% of existing users. |

Hello,
Thank you for the feedback. We have changed the dialog back to tab based with graphic feedback on the left panel.
But on each tab, the controls are mainly tree based because of some new features implemented.
Would you like to test the axis dialog when 9.2 beta is released?
Sincerely, Snow Li OriginLab Corp.

No matter what functions you have added. The fact is that making multiple changes requires a lot more clicking and time, simply because almost everything is hidden within a certain tree branch. It may be better for someone who is relatively new with Origin. Why don't you just better label each setting within tabs ? Like divide them into sections with different color background.

Have you tried in Origin2015? We have completely redesigned the axes dialog again to make it look more like in 9.0. We agree that 9.1 dialog was not well designed and this new one should be much better.
