Hi everyone!
I am still learning to use Origin and I have a problem (which probably has a very easy answer ) but I just could not find a solution to it also in the Origin forum. So I kindly need some help!
Basically I have divided my data (biological cells) in 9 different groups. Each group further has data values for 10 cells each. I want to make a line plot and put together all this data in one graph but resolve the groups by different colors. So basically 10 cells of group 1 should have black color, 10 cells of group 2 should have red and so on.I tried manually adding data of one group at a time from the layer contents option and then changing the color of each of the 10 cells. It worked for groups 1 and 2 and I had 20 cells in the plot (10 black and 10 red). But then adding group 3 was a problem as some of its data overlaps with both group 1 and 2. There I was lost as I could not resolve these group 3 black (default color) curves from the first two groups.
So can someone please suggest me an elegant and quick way to do this?

It looks to me you can arrange your groups in different columns and then plot the lines as below
If this is not what you needs, could you provide us your sample data and better sample graph(you can manually draw it) so that we can know how the data should be plotted in the graph.

thanks for your prompt reply.
I need something like this- see attached image of my sample data and the plot I want.
I have 10 cells in each group. So my final plot should show 10 curves each of 9 different colors.
Could you suggest how I should go about it?

Hello,
If you are using Origin 2016, double click any plot to open Plot Details dialog.
On Group tab, you can set set group by size: 10.
Subgroup on Increment: Between Subgroups as the image below.
Then each 10 plots will show the same color.

Hello Snow,
thanks for your nice suggestion. But I do not have Origin 2016. I am using the OriginPro 8.5.0 version.
Does this subgrouping feature exist in this version? and will it work in case I have different number of cells in each of the groups?

No, these subgroup by size and control how the color increment in same subgroup or only change between subgroup is only for Origin 2016.
Also if you make each column's label row clearly.
E.g. create two rows of column label row. One row for Cell info. One row for Group info, in Origin 2016, you can also choose Enable subgroup by Column Label so it will work nicely for unbalanced cells.
Origin 8.6 doesn't have such features so I would recommend upgrading. There are also many other nice features in Origin 2016.
