| How to plot a combined chart? I would like to plot two variables on y axes (left and right) with a common x axis. However, I want the y axis corresponding the left axis as a line and y axis on the right as column. Is there a method to do this in origin? |

| Thanks for your reply. The problem here is not creating double Y plots. Origin has a well advanced default set-up to do this. However, the plots on one axis cannot be changed. In other words, it only allows both the axis to be in line or bar. This makes plotting two axis with different pattern complicated. |

| Thanks once again for your reply. I'm aware of merge graph option. But this would only allow us to plot two graphs, meaning one on top and one on bottom having same X axis. I tried to use this option, however, this does not have option to plot two axes having different plot styles, i.e. bar and line. |

You can first plot a double Y (both line) graph,
and then right-click on the 2nd plot, select Change Plot to -> Column/Bar.
Then you can save this as a "graph template" and plot new graphs with this template:
1. Right-click on title bar of the graph window to select Save Template as..., give a name to the template.
2. Select your new data.
2. Select from main menu Plot: User Templates: <your template> |
