Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 2015, b9.2.2014
Operating System: Windows 7
Hi there,
I have a line plot with positive and negative values and I'd like to fill only the area above the Y=0 grid line. Is this possible (without splitting the data set into positive and negative values by hand)?
(See picture below - only the area above y=0 should be filled)

Hi Matthias,
You can add a Y=0 plot, group your original plot with this, and fill the color above the line. Please try the
following steps:
1) "Graph: Add Function Plot" menu to make a function plot of Y(x)=0 .
2) Open the Layer Contents dialog (by double-clicking the layer icon [1]), select both plots in the right panel,
and press "Group" button.
3) In the Plot Details dialog, in the Line tab for yout original plot, turn ON the Fill Area Under Curve check box,
and select "Fill to Next Data Plot - Above Below Colors".
4) Set the fill color to "None" from the "Pattern Above" tab.
Hope this solves your problem.

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I could not produce the plot I'm looking for. Using the option "Fill to Next Data Plot - Above Below Colors" does not give the expected result - NO area is filled; nothing happens. If I use "Fill to Next Data Plot - One Colour" I get the same result as in my postet graph (which of course is logical - I just tried it to see if any option is working).
Any ideas what went wrong?

EDIT: If I use a very simple data set (in the same project) it works (see picture), but it does not work with my original data set (only the option "Fill to Next Data Plot - One Colour" results in a colour fill). Can this be related to the number of data points? |

I have tried a plot with 2000 data points (with X in descending order) on Origin 2015 Sr2, but coloring both above and below
to next dataset worked okay. So, I couldn't reproduce the problem. Could you send your Origin file to tech@originlab.com
with a note mentioning this forum post, so that I can test to reproduce your problem.
