Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 8.5.0 SR1
Operating System: Windows 8.1

Hello, I'm new to Origin and have been fiddling around with it on my friend's computer. Here I'm trying to create an energy diagram using the Symbol + Line option. Is it possible to have the lines connected at the ends of the symbols (in this case the horizontal line) instead of going to the center of the symbols?

Thanks!

Hello,

It seems no straight way to do it.

Here is what I did:
1. Add a 2nd Y column with values 0.1 or -0.1 depending on your Y value is positive or negative.
2. Select both Y data and plot as Stacked Column.
3. Then in Plot Details, I hide the 1st Y data.
4. Go to Layer node on the left of Plot Details. On Stack tab, check the checkbox to show connect line on stacked column/bar.

I will check with developers if we can implement our line+symbol to support what you suggested.

Thanks, Snow

We are going to add connect bar feature for floating column plot in up coming SR1 so this can be easily made in Origin. Below is the image I quickly made using inhouse version.
