hello,
i need to import a lot of data from images. these are graphics in polar coordinates.
one example is in
http://www.elti.si/TVEQUIPMENT/TV_ANTENNAS/tva3150/TVA_3150-htm.htm
truth, quality is quite bad, but i have good quality pictures.
So, is it possible to make origin to read data from let's say blank picture(bmp,gif-doesnt matter) with one black qurve?
i would be statisfied only with x and y values, everything else can do by myself.

thanx in advance

I don't understand what you mean by "graphics in polar coordinates", but I was able to import TVA-31-50-1.gif into a Origin 7/7.5 matrix. Naturally it was converted to grayscale after being viewed in data mode.

...Oh, you mean the polar graph that's used as the image's wallpaper. That was lost in data mode, but if it were the main image it should be fine.

I am not aware of a tool that can automatically scan a graph in polar coordinates and convert it back to data. There are many free software that will convert XY traces into data, but not sure if any will work with polar coordinates.

sorry, i'm not quite good in english...

so, once again:
we can simply create a graph from the data(let's say x,y->linear graph). Then we can export it to .gif image.yes?
so, i have this image in the link above, and I need to convert it back to data(in this case-to extract deg and dB from the polar graph).
If it is not possible in origin 7, is there a software able to do it?
thnx

You can certainly import the graph image to a matrix where it will be in (pixel) cartesian coordinates. It should be possible (though perhaps tedious) to transform to actual polar coordinates. As CP said, I doubt if any program will import directly in polar coordinates.
