Hi,
I have been using OriginPro 7.0 for long without any problem. Recently I have found that when I click on the Origin icon to open the software, it takes about 30 seconds just to open. Also, while plotting graph even with small amount of data, I have faced the same problem now. Could anybody explain whats happening?
Thanks.

Maybe some network path no longer exist? Check your computer to see if there has been some changes to network mappings.

There are many possible causes -- most of which have little to do with Origin. Origin 7 has been in use for quite a while now and we haven't seen any problems of this sort -- either in-house or in the form of user reports.

I would suggest this:

1. Make certain that you don't have a virus/worm problem.
2. Check your hard-disk for disk free space or file fragmentation.
3. As CP suggested, disconnect your mapped network drives one by one to see whether this improves your performance (I am assuming that you are both using standalone copies of Origin as opposed to the Server+Client model).

One other thing comes to mind: Occasionally, we are contacted by a customer who does all of his/her Origin work in a single project (OPJ) file. Naturally, this file grows in size over time -- sometimes to the tens or hundreds of megabytes -- and these gargantuan files can be very difficult to work with (and prone to being corrupted). If this is something that you do, I would advise you to break up the project file into smaller files (You can do this by creating a folder structure in Project Explorer, then saving the individual folders as separate OPJ files).

I hope that some of this helps you. Good luck!
