I have an origin 7.0 file, but I can't open it. The program start to read the file, and open some windows but never finish, and then I must close the program. It is a file that I create 2 month ago, so I can't backup it. I try to append it to a new file, but it doesn't work.
The file have almost 16Mb, perhaps it is very heave. Some days ago I have the same problem with another file, but in that opportunity this was the last file I saved, so I could backup it.
I don't what to do. Please, if somebody can help me I'll be very grateful.

Thank you in advance.

Gaston

Hi Gaston:

Look in your Origin program folder for a file called Backup.OPJ. With any luck, it will be there and will contain your "lost file."

Let us know if this helps.

Hi Mike

I opened Backup.OPJ, but this file is a new one. The file I'm trying to recover is an old one. I saved it two month ago.
What can I do now?

Thank you

Gaston

Sorry, Gaston. If I had read your post more carefully, I would have understood that you had already considered Backup.OPJ.

It sounds as though your damaged file opens, but does not display all windows. Maybe the graph windows are missing? In this case, the missing windows are probably not recoverable, but you may be able to recover the worksheet data. If you want to try this yourself, see this KBase item.

Otherwise -- since OriginLab provides your technical support -- you can send the damaged OPJ, along with your Origin serial number and version number to tech@originlab.com. Explain that Backup.OPJ does not contain a backup of your file. Good luck -- I hope it works out for you.

Hi Gaston,

This is a shot in the dark but might be worth trying. If you or someone you know has an earlier version of Origin try opening the damaged file in that version. If the corruption involves a feature introduced in Origin 7.0 it might not affect earlier versions.
