I worite a complicated custom fitting routine that does the initial refinements well but as the fit progresses I inevitably get an 28036 error message. It suggests that I fix a certain parameter, but even when I fix it the error returns about another parameter. What causes this message and how do I fix the problem?

I think we can help you most effectively if you email tech@originlab.com explaining the problem. And include in your email an attachment containing the OPJ that illustrates the problem (or just the data file) and the fitting function file (.FDF).
Thanks,

According to our documentation, this error 28036, can be caused by one of the following:
1. The fitting model does not fit the data well.
2. Parameter initialization is too bad.
3. The derivative of Chi-square to the reported parameter is close to zero, i.e., the parameter has no contribution to the minimization of the Chi-square value. Usually you can get around this problem by setting the reported parameter to be fixed.

Please feel free to contact us directly so that we can help further.
