 3D Ternary Colormap Surface Smoothing

Hello,

I am trying to smooth out the surface of a 3D Ternary Graph. The graph right now looks very choppy because there are only lines drawn between the given points. Basically I am trying to "Smooth the 3D surface plot" as given in this example (https://www.originlab.com/doc/Tutorials/3D-Plotting-Basic) but on a worksheet with XYZZ (X Y Z Zh).

Hi,

You can double click on the graph to open Plot Details dialog, switch to Contouring Info tab, then turn on Smoothing. Thanks.

however this method is not working quite as imagined. In the case of Smoothing with Total points increase factor 100 and Smoothing Parameter 0.05 the graph is portrayed through different points as even setting points beyond the Axis lines. I have tried different values for the parameters such as 1, 0.05 and 50, 0.02.

Is there a way not to resize the graph completely and instead stay approximately at the given points. In the example above a matrix is calculated from the given data. Is there anything similar possible for this graph?

Hi,

The smooth setting in Contouring info tab is using the TPS algorithm:
https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/GridMethod-RandomSpaced#Thin_Plate_Spline_.28TPS.29
The result largely related to the flatness of your data. This smoothing method is not suitable for very noisy data. You can send your graph to <tech@originlab.com> for us to check further.

Hi,

is there a way to use other methods such as Renka Cline from Gridding Method and Parameters given here (https://www.originlab.com/doc/Origin-Help/XYZGridding-Dialog#Gridding_Method_and_Parameters) on the 3D Ternary Graph?

Those smoothing methods are not available for 3D ternary surface plot.
