I was faced with a problem of using simple cell formulas.
For example, I have the column A with natural numbers and want to calculate summ of them in the cell B1. I write the expression "=total(A)" in the cell and press Enter. Unfortunately, the formula doesn't work and I see only string "=total(A)" instead of a function value. The situation doesn't depend on which formula I use, a cell value keeps be just string. I unsuccessfully tried to find the same problem in the Internet. Could you please help me with it?
Thank you in advance for your answers!

Cell formula was first introduced in Origin 2018.

D:
I'm shocked that it was introduced too late. Is there any way to make my calculations? (without installing 2018/2019 version)

Yes, it's a solution, but all rows in one column will contain the same value. Actually, I need to calculate several values of such kind (median, mean, dispersion and so on), and it means that I should make a whole column for each value D:
Anyway, I got the answer for my question, thank you!

You can define a dataset in Before Formula Scripts and set the column values with that.
