I used allometric functions (y = a xb) to fit two datasets (named “Distal” -in blue- and “Proximal” -in red-; please see the uploaded file). I obtained two equations:
y (distal) = 2.20 x -0.21
y (prox.) = 2.40 x -0.12
I need to determine whether or not the two exponents (parameters b; -0.21 and -0.12) are significantly (statistically) different.
How can I do that? Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Jose
In the Analysis->Fitting menu, there is a tool named Compare Datasets, but this is limited to comparing the overall fit from the two models and does not compare a specific parameter.
We have this free App: https://www.originlab.com/fileExchange/details.aspx?fid=501 This lets you check if the value of the parameter is statistically different from a specified value. So you can run the test on one of your datasets, and plug in the b value from the fit result of the other dataset, to compare.
This app needs version 9.6 or higher. You can download our demo version and try the App.
