Operating System:
Origin 2022b (64-bit) SR1
9.9.5.171 (Academic)
Windows 11 Pro

I am trying to create a column chart with a grouped column where I have a secondary axis (like in excel). I have looked at the closest support I can find: https://my.originlab.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3483
but this doesn't work for me.

I can make the second layer but when I drag the data into that layer, it doesn't display it correctly:

Hi Liam,

There are multiple approaches to creating additional axes (some of which have been implemented after your version of Origin, so keep that in mind when reviewing the documentation). Edit: I was able to find the Origin 9 tutorial on this matter for you: https://www.originlab.com/pdfs/tutorials.pdf#page=439

I also notice that you linked to a post on the forum as the only support you found. Keep in mind that in the bottom-left corner of Origin, there is a Start Menu button that allows you to search our FAQs, Documentation, Tutorials Videos (and more!) directly within Origin.

That being said, I can certainly assist you with your specific scenario. However, it is hard to understand what your data looks like and how you would like to structure your graph from just the picture you provided. Can you provide more information, like your .opju file (compress to .zip before uploading) and a picture of the type of graph you would like to make?

In the meantime, here are some resources we have uploaded that may also provide you with a solution:

Origin also offers a variety of multi-panel plot types that are not an option in Excel. Depending on what trends you are interested in, one of these may be a good way to visualize your data. Here are just a couple examples:

I am going to go through these options (thanks for sending them) and if they don't work I will attach my file! I want to try and have a go figuring it out myself first :)
