Origin Version (Select Help-->About Origin): 8 Operating System: Windows Xp
Hi, i have some problems copying data from an excel file to origin. I'm plotting a bytime graph; i have 20 measureas, each of 15 min, and the sampling period is of 0.1 sec. so i have to move about 9000 values. i don't understand if it's normal that origin needs so much time (about 4-5 minutes) to copy the data. the pc configuration is: pentium 4 3.61 GHz, 1 GB Ram
Is there someone who can help me? please, my boss is breaking my balls... |

The fastest way to bring Excel data to Origin is to drag and drop that Excel book into Origin. You can then copy and paste to other Origin books after that.
Could you send us your excel file so that we can look to see why it is so slow? If we just create new excel file with that much data, we do not see this problem.
You can send emial to me directly at cp@originlab.com

hi. i can't send you the measurement file, but i can explain you how it is made. i have to move a coloumn of data; the number of cells that i want to copy is about 9000. the values into these cells are progressive (for example from 5400.1 to 6300.1); the values into another range of cells, that i have to copy, are like: 60.0 58.8 62.1 59.6 etc.. i tried to open the excel file into origin (not with the drag and drop method but with the "open excel" button), but the process didn't speed up. i tried to turn off my firewall (kaspersky), but i saw in task manager that the memory (about 108 M) utilized by origin didn't grow; and the process didn't speed up. however, thank you MC |
