Hi there,

is there a possibility to make scatter-plot-points bigger for data with more frequent values?

E.g.

x-axis y-Axis
1 2
2 3
3 4
2 3

Data point (2,3) is two times in the table, so I wish to mark it somehow (best would be by drawing a bigger point for 2,3)
I dont want to make colour plots.

2. When fitting the above data, does Origin consider that (2,3) is there two times or do I have to weight it?

Thanks for help.

Hi,

If you create a scatter plot of such raw data, opne Plot Details, select your dataset on the left panel, and on the right panel, select Symbol tab. Then check the "Overlap Points Offset Plotting" check box. This will plot a symbol for each of the repeated values slightly offset from each other.

As for fitting, the presence of repeated values naturally gives more weigthing to that data point, so no need to assign any further weighting method.

Thanks, but this only works for a few data points, not if one has 10 or more double values.

Any other possiblities?

Drawing overlapped points bigger is a neat idea. Do you know if this will be typically accepted? as it should be quite simple to add such a feature to Origin.

For now, you can write code to generate two a new size column to count the duplicate points and plot a bubble plot.
