For publication purposes, I need to export a bunch of color figures in black and white. The "Graph Theme" for "B&W Publication" almost works. See the two figures below (exported as eps, later screen captured to put into this forum). There are 2 problems. It has left a few of the markers in color. Also it has blacked out a gif image imported into the graph.

By the way, I had to import an image of the math symbol on the axis because I could not create it otherwise. Is there a better option?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

I cannot reproduce the exporting problem with a simple scatter+line graph created by me. Would you please send me your project/graph so that I can do some tests?

Please follow the instructions in this web page to upload the file:
http://www.originlab.com/index.aspx?s=1&lm=123&pid=752

For the second question (math symbol), I suggest using the symbol map to insert the symbols instead of importing an image. To use symbol map, double-click to edit the axis title and then press CTRL-M to open the Symbol Map dialog. Select the desired symbol and insert. (You can see more details here: http://www.originlab.com/www/helponline/Origin8/en/graphing/creating_text_labels.htm#Symbol)

I notice that you are using Origin SR5. I strongly recommend updating to SR6 because it includes many bug fixes. Please download SR6 from here:

Hi Mike,

Here is the procedure for getting the math symbols the way you wanted them:

1> Double click the title to enter in-place editing
2> Press ctrl-m to bring up symbol map dialog and select Symbol from the font drop-down list
3> Select the "dau" character and press Insert - at this point a dialog should pop up asking if you want to insert this as a separate node, this happens for characters above number 127 - select No. If you do not see this dialog, quit and go to Help menu and select Reactivate Reminder Messages and then start over again
4> then insert the sigma character and press Close
5> Click away from the text label to update it, then right click to select Properties.
6> In the dialog that opens add \ab() around the characters present, so text would look like: \ab(\g(s)) and click OK

This should give the text label you wanted. The reason to insert not as a separate node is because if it is inserted separate, the line above gets broken.

Deanna, I upload the project via the General Contact form.

Thanks for the help with the math symbol. The "ab" was the main missing knowledge for me.

Thanks for the help,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for uploading the project. There is something wrong with the B&W Publication theme. I fixed it and send you a updated theme. Please use it instead of the old one.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
