I used user-defined function to fit some curves. It worked perfectly. Today the old license was expired and I had to update it. However, after updating, I lost that user-defined function, and Origin simply told me: "A valid funciton has not been selected.".
So my question is, how to selected that user-defined function?
In NLFit dialog, If I chose:
Category: exponential
Funciton: BoxLucas2, or any other function given by OriginPro
then I press the tab "sample curve", I can see the curve of this function BoxLucas2.
But if I chose a function defined by used, it can not be shown in the tab "Sample curve".
How can I do the curve fitting with my user-defined function, in this case?

Files for user defined functions are saved in the folder "User Files\fitfunc". You can find your previous user defined functions in Fitting Function Organizer dialog.
Select a category in the left panel of Fitting Function Organizer dialog, click on Add button, and select your user defined function's .fdf file in User Files folder. The function will be shown in NLFit dialog.
Origin also provides a tool to transfer files in User File folder for different versions. Select Tools: Transfer User Files from Origin menu.
Only built-in functions can be shown in the tab "Sample curve". User defined function will not be shown in the tab "Sample curve" if you don't specify it.

For anyone interested in getting the Formula tab to display their user-defined formula and the Sample Curve tab to display as well, here's how:
Make sure you are working with a function that is stored in your User Files Folder (UFF) Fitfunc folder and note the name of the file - let's call it CONNIPTION.FDF.
Create a nice graph that shows your fit function working.
(You can delete Legends, axes. etc to make it clearer)
Export your graph as a Windows MetaFile (WMF) to the UFF Fitfunc folder with the same name as the function file - CONNIPTION.WMF.
In Explorer, rename the file from CONNIPTION.WMF to CONNIPTION.CUV.
Now create a new, empty graph (delete all axes, tick labels and text) and add the text that defines your function.
Resize the text so it fills the graph (width) and position it near the top.
Export this graph as a WMF to the UFF Fitfunc folder with the same name we previously used - CONNIPTION.WMF.
Now the Formula and Sample Curve will show in both the NLFit and Fitting Function Organizer dialogs. |
