Hi Xiaoshui Ming,

To plot a box plot without box, you can change the box Type to Data. That is,

1. Highlight datasets and then select Plot: Statistics: Box Chart to create a box chart.
2. Double click on the box to open the Plot Details dialog
3. Go to the Box tab. Select Data from Type drop-down list.
4. Click OK to apply.

Right now Origin cannot add the mean line automatically. You need to add it manually.

This is a very good suggestion! We will add this ability in the upcoming release. Thanks.

Hi xiaoshuiming,

To draw the mean line manually, you can follow the steps:

1. Calculate the mean value for each box by choosing Statistics: Descriptive Statistics: Statistics on Columns.

2. Draw a horizontal line in the box chart by using Line Tool (from the Tool toolbar vertical on the left side of Origin workspace)

3. Right click on the line and select Properties from the context menu.

4. In the Object Properties dialog that opens, go to the Coordinates tab. Select scale from Units drop-down list. Then change Begin and End Y value to that corresponding Mean value.

yeah, it's a good news. it will be suitable for the situation that the samples No. is small and the distribution is non-normal.
