Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 8 RC5
Operating System:Vista

hi, i have a small problem i was not able to solve;

We're using origin 8 for lab results as students, all groups got a copy;
Our teacher showed us the Surface fitting and told to do some exercise with it, but there is a small problem:

when he showed us a random surfacee fit, in the NLFit window, he had a preview in 3D - meaning surface + fitted surface; it was very easy to see how far the first and last iteration is off and it was a good thing to evaluate how correct the model is.

I, however, when choose my dataset and build a matrix, later a graph (3d color fill surface), when try to fit a surface, get only the view from the top with black lines showing z values. A totally 2D graph.

I've been trying to search any option regarding this, but failed :P

I'd appreciate any help in this case!

To my knowledge, the preview will be 2D, that is, the contour version. But once you proceed with the fit, and get the fit matrix, you can plot it as a surface---then plot your data as scatter.

In Origin 8.5, you can make your surface transparent (so as to see all of the data), and also add droplines from the scatter data to your surface. Both nice features that allow you to examine the fit graphically.

Regards,
Vince
