Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): 8 SR6
Operating System: Windows XP Prof SP3

Hi Everybody,

We have moved our license server to another server recently. We can use origin normally and all its funcionalities but we found a problem.

When we open an office document with a origin graph pasted before the server move and try to modify this graph by double-click in it origin doesn't open and it appears the following error:

"Unknown error on the server application, source flie or element. It's possible we must reinstall the server application"

I've reinstalled Origin and office and still the same.

But if you open origin and copy any graph and pastes again in this document it works ok.

Does anyone has the same problem or can help me.

Thank you,

Oscar

Hi Oscar,

We couldn't reproduce the problem.

Could you check how the graph was pasted into Word.

You can right click the Graph in Word and check if there is a context menu called "Linked Graph Object". If so, then the Graph was pasted linked to Word instead of Paste.

If the graph was linked to an opj/ogg file and the opj/ogg file location changes, the Graph will fail to be double clicked to open in Origin.

Then you can choose Linked Graph Object: Links... to check if the souce file path is correct and use Change Source... to link it to the correct file.

If this isn't the case, then is it possible that you could send us the doc file so that we can take a look?

Thanks, Snow Li
