Origin Ver. 8.5.0 (2010)
Operating System: Win7

Hello all,

I am fairly new to Origin, and I am having some trouble setting this up. I have a very dense scatter plot (x and y values), which works, but the density makes it impossible to see anything useful. What I would like to do is turn it into a 2D histogram (eg, 2D bins, using the same x and y) and plot the amplitude as a color map.

Could someone point me in the right direction? All I can find with regards to histograms is the 1D version.

Thanks :)

Hi,

This is located under the Statistics menu:
With your worksheet active, select Statistics->Descriptive Statistics->2D Frequency Count/Binning.

The dialog provides option for output to be a worksheet and/or a matrix. In your case you may want to select Matrix and then create an Image plot of the data in the matrix and assign color map.
