OriginPro 9.0.0 SR2, Win7 64-bit, running in VMware Fusion 5.0.3

I am trying to import an SPC file generated by a Raman analyzer instrument. When I try to import the file via the File->Import->Thermo (SPC, CGN)... menu item, I get the following message box:

"Thermo (SPC, CGN) Import is not supported in 64bit Origin"

I am curious as to why this is the case.

Hello,

Some of our 3d party import/export uses third party dlls or libs. They are not ported to 64 bit yet.

By default we install both 64 bit and 32 bit Origin on 64 bit PCs. So for now, you can launch 32 bit Origin to do the import.

Sorry for the inconvenience. We will keep on contacting the company to see if they will port to 64 bit or we will check if we can do something to support it.

Thanks, Snow Li

Okay,

I currently do not have the 32-bit version installed- only the 64-bit.

If I install the 32-bit version, will it change or replace any of the existing files in my UFF? Indeed, can I use the same UFF for both versions?

You can choose Add or Remove Files and then choose Modify.
During the process, no need to change SN.
Choose to install both 32 and 64 bit.

All your customized files are shared between 32 bit and 64 bit.
They are in User Files Folder(UFF) which will not be changed during modification. Even uninstall with not uninstall files under UFF.

Thanks, Snow
