Origin Ver. and Service Release (Select Help-->About Origin): OriginPro 2016 (64-bit) Sr2, b9.3.2.303 (Home Use)
Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hello!
I'm a bit confused that how does Format cells --> Text --> Allow Text option function. The description in the Help is not into detail. I've tried checking or unchecking the checkbox, and there's no difference when I make any operation to the text in the cell. And what is Multi-line Entry when I SHIFT+ENTER? I didn't see any response when I press SHIFT+ENTER?
Could anyone kindly explain to me? Thank you!

Best regards,
Junrui

Hi,

In order to use multi-line: check "Rich text" box. Best,

Hello!
Thank you for replying, I've tried enabling rich text and then tried different actions, with and without "Allow Enter" checked, there's no difference when I press Enter. For example, when I select "Allow Enter", I can edit the text of a selected cell by double-clicking it. But when I deselect this "Allow Enter", I can still enter text-edit mode of the same cell by double-clicking it. So what's the point of this option?

Best regards,
Junrui

Hi,

Yeah, multi-line works even without rich text.
It seems that this option doesn't affect if cell already has "enter".
Moreover, I found that Ctrl+Enter ignores disabled "Allow Enter" :).

This appears to have broken for a while but so far nobody seem to care, so is there a reason you need to use this?
