I was wondering if it was possible with Origin 8.0 to plot a function where the usual roles of "x" and "y" are reversed. For example, I'd like to plot

f(y) = exp(-y^2)

so that I have a gaussian that's running along the y-axis. I need this to build a more complex figure and could not figure out how to do this.

Another thing I tried was just to plot f(x) = exp(-x^2) and paste it into another graph. I was hoping that it would be possible to rotated the pasted image by 90 degrees, but could not find how to do this.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

If you merely need to make such a plot, just plot the usual y = f(x) and from the Graph menu, choose Exchange X-Y Axes.

This Exchange is a layer property so even if you mix this into a multi-layer graph, the Exchange will still work. The only catch is that this is a layer property so all plots in the layer will have such Exchange.
