Origin Ver. and Service Release 8 sr6 Operating System: XP
I created a ternary plot, from which I saved a user template. I created the file (below),

then followed the instructions on p 189 of the manual, producing the results you see. The labels/long names have been correctly interpreted. On inspecting PlotSetup, it appears that the X,Y, Z have also been recognised, but not plotted.

If instead (Tutorial Basic 2D Plotting 3.3), having highlighted my ternary template (Plot, template library), I click on Plot setup, it does not recognise the type of plot and expects Z to be a Yer.
When I start from the data to create a ternary graph using the button on the bottom bar, it works well enough, without of course any user template adjustments.
Where have I gone wrong in using the template? Is it possible to apply the template to an existing graph?
Thank you

When you save Templates, you have two options:
(1) Save the Template without changing the name. The Template is actually saved in your User Files Folder (UFF) so the original Template is still unchanged, but Origin will now use your custom Template when you make a plot of the same type. In your case Ternary plots will be made with your Template if you did not change the name TERNARY.
(2) If you save a Template with a unique name, Origin still saves the Template in your UFF, but you must load the template from the Plot : Template Library. In your case, if you first select the Z column, then choose Plot : Template Library and pick the Template you saved you should get your custom Ternary plot. |
